UK's MI6 tried to kill Milosevic

It's most likely unrelated to the death of Milosevic today in the Hague, but it's an interesting twist in the story of his life. I remember hearing about this around September last year, and it was actually quite disturbing - not because I'm a fan of Milosevic or anything, but simply because when States feel that they have the power to do things like this it can get out of hand.

According to Richard Tomlinson, a former MI6 (UK Secret Service) agent who is quite well known in the UK for 'blowing the whistle' on questionable practices in the agency, MI6 plotted to assassinate the Serbian President in a Geneva motorway tunnel, using a strobe light to induce his driver to crash. Aparently the plot wasn't carried out because of political intervention.

Think what you like.

Tomlinson lives in self-imposed exile in Geneva as he has contravened laws that protect State secrets in the UK.
